about hairstyles for homecoming 2011
Here are some of the ways that you can easily create a hairstyle at home, and all you have to know is how to create a simple ponytail hairstyle within the hair:
First, ensure that there is a high level of volume that has been created in the hair. This volume can come from creating curls within the hairstyle before pulling the hair back into a ponytail or ensuring that the roots have been back combed to create a high level of volume through the roots, creating the formal hairstyle that comes with Updos.
Next, pull the hair back into the ponytail, using a anti frizz serum and a comb to loosely pull any hairs that are sticking up or sticking out to create the formal appearance of the hairstyle that you want. There are many options that are available for this style, like avoiding the part altogether and pulling the hair directly back or even creating a part to one side of the head. Depending on the hairstyle that is desired, you can determine where to part the hair.
Once the ponytail has been created, there are a number of options. The pony tail can be curled or it can be twisted around itself to create a popular style. As well, the ponytail ends can be secured through the outside with pins to create a reverse bun, that can be quite stunning.

Homecoming hairstyles
It’s the week before homecoming, and everyone is panicking over what they’re going to wear and which of the homecoming hairstyles they’ll choose. Well, let’s focus on the hair. For homecoming, people could go for a simple but stylish look, or they could focus more towards the elaborate but sophisticated and more mature hairstyle. For a simpler hairstyle, a girl might just curl her hair or perhaps straighten it, and maybe pull it back with a cute clip. Another simple style would be piling the hair onto the head, letting several tendrils of hair fall down the back, and allowing some bangs to hang over the side of the face. For a more complicated hairstyle, a girl might pull back her hair tightly, placing the hair into an elaborate do, and placing flowers and clips into the hair. There are many different 2011 homecoming hairstyles to try, and you want to make sure you get the one that suits you.
When you’re a teenager, homecoming is one of the most important events in your life. As such, you have to make sure you look your best. So what can be even more important than your hair during homecoming? Everyone styles their hair differently for homecoming, to look prettier or more sophisticated, or perhaps older if that’s what they’re aiming for. The way your hair is styled during your homecoming is extremely important, so your homecoming hairstyle is something you’ll remember forever.

Saul Bass + Hockey
My husband, an AVID hockey fan, came across this post today. Knowing how much his wife loves the work of Saul Bass (and how she has learned to love hockey), he thought these posters were a great combo. I have to agree.

{blend2011: an evening soiree}
As promised, I've got a few images from our event last weekend, and what a night it was! With Ikea as the evening's sponsor, a few very special guests, and the fabulous atmosphere of the Loden Hotel, it was a hit! We purposefully planned the event around the IDSwest show in Vancouver, an interior design show that brings some of the most talented people to town. Blend 2011 was designed to be a fusion of social media & design, bringing together bloggers, designers, photographers and artists in the field. I'm hoping this event will be even bigger and better next year!

We had a gorgeous room at the Loden - I was in awe of all those fabulous & talented people together in one space!

A shot where you can see my shoes {I'm the one wearing yellow}, only because I wanted to point out that while I loved them, I was about to die with every single step by the end of the night! Guess they need a bit more 'breaking into,' lol!

Our giveaway table was filled with goodies! Decor books and faucets from Delta Faucets, artwork and so many lovely items donated for door prizes ...

And yes, you may have spotted my print in the back there, I gave one away as a prize and was so thankful for all the postive feedback from others!

I drooled over this pillow that The Cross generously donated ... wish that one came home with me!!

Besides door prizes, everyone went home with a swag bag filed with goodies from Ikea, Para Paints, Benjamin Moore, Kerrisdale Design, Michelle Morelan, Heather Ross, and more!
The organizers had the chance to snap a photo with our special guests:

What a wonderful night! A giant thank you to everyone who made it possible and everyone who attended. Here's to Blend 2012!!
Romantic Bedrooms Design 2011
Rich Romantic
For a really luxuries looking room, don’t go for fancy furniture with a flamboyant design. Instead, pick classic in a warm dark wood teak and create richness through the use of different textures. Fabric plays a vital role in this scheme, so you can go wild with jamavars silks, organzas and satins. Mix and match different fabric in toning colours for the curtains and bedcovers, add a soft rug, and if you can go for a four poster bed adorned with light organza curtains there’s nothing like it for all out romantic luxury. Lighting is important too so be sure to place pretty lamps around the room.

Clean & Serene Bedroom Design 2011
Clean & Serene
Shades of white and cream are ideal for bad room because of their soothing nature. Pick a classy wrought iron bed in silver, and tile the floor in a stone effect tile for natural look. When it comes to bedding and curtain keep it simple- white cotton will look crisp and neat, and you can always add a couple of lacy pillow or cushions for style. An oversize mirror on the wall is a good idea as this will reflect the light. This theme is ideal for smaller rooms, as the open lattice effect of the furniture and the light colour make the room seem larger.
