Light and Airy

A former oil mill near Nîmes is now an open, loft-style home for Marie-Laure and her American husband John. Sensitively restored, they've left the original stone exposed inside and have kept to a minimalist white colour scheme, allowing the soaring ceilings and amazing windows to have centre stage. Outside, bamboo and olive trees add soft green shade around the courtyard pool. Cool, tranquil and lovely, it's the ideal warm weather home. More here on CôtéMaison.

A Winter Getaway

This beautiful fourteenth-century chalet (Swiss, perhaps? The article doesn't mention where it is) has been faithfully outside while inside it's updated in a relaxed, Scandinavian-influenced style — the perfect retreat for a ski weekend. More photos here at Côté Maison.

Sea and Sky

This stunning home is located on Johanna Beach, considered one of the best surf spots in Australia. Designed by Nicholas Burns & Associates, it has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, an outdoor shower and an open kitchen/living area — a layout that allows a relaxed flow throughout inside while enjoying the sensational view outside. The perfect retreat from the daily grind.
