Weekend

Happy weekend! Hope it's a good one. The weather here is set to be thunderstorms off and on for the next few days, so I think we'll be spending our time mostly indoors — reading, watching movies and maybe having a round or two of Scrabble. How about you?

Happy weekend! Hope it's a lovely one. We've been enjoying perfect early fall weather this week — sunny days with a wonderful crispness to the air. With the weekend looking to be much the same, I think we'll be getting outside to enjoy it — perhaps a visit to the farmer's market for the first local apples and pears. How about you?

Light and Colour

The high ceilings and abundant natural light of this lovely 19th century Barcelona apartment serve as a perfect backdrop to its colourful modern furniture and art — this home just radiates sunny well being. More photos and info here on Micasa.

Glam Minimalism

Instead of the usual longer Wednesday decor post, I've got two mini ones for you today — both courtesy of Elle Interior Sweden. First up is this lovely space, the Nyköping home of Ann-Christine and her partner Ulrik — a wonderful mix of antiques, flea market finds and the odd Ikea piece against a classic white background, warmed with hints of gold and brass. Hope your Monday is a lovely relaxed one. It's Labour Day here in Canada, so we're looking forward to a quiet day — a nice change from the usual busy start to the week.

A View From the Trees

The modernist loft of Stefan and Nicole Andrén in Portland, Oregon is the next best thing to a treehouse — situated in a forested ridge in the hills behind the city’s downtown, it floats above the trees, an idyllic retreat from the day to day bustle. More here. Via Dwell.

Light and Airy

A former oil mill near Nîmes is now an open, loft-style home for Marie-Laure and her American husband John. Sensitively restored, they've left the original stone exposed inside and have kept to a minimalist white colour scheme, allowing the soaring ceilings and amazing windows to have centre stage. Outside, bamboo and olive trees add soft green shade around the courtyard pool. Cool, tranquil and lovely, it's the ideal warm weather home. More here on CôtéMaison.

Boho Loft Chic

A change of pace from the more minimalist spaces that I usually share with you — stylist Sibella Court's fab New York loft. Located in China Town, it still has original details such as the traditional pressed-tin ceiling, exposed metal beams and wood floors. Most of all, though, it has plenty of space, which is what sold Sibella on it as soon as she saw it. I think I could easily spend hours just wandering through looking at all the lovely details in her home — so pretty. More here from House to Home.

A Poetic Loft
